Cookie Croissant Recipe: How to Make This Viral 2-Ingredient Pastry at Home!

  • Author: Nova

Description

The cookie croissant, also known as Le Crookie, is a heavenly fusion of a flaky, buttery croissant and a gooey, chocolatey cookie center.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Basic Cookie Croissant:

  • 4 day-old croissants (store-bought or homemade)
  • ½ cup chocolate chip cookie dough (homemade or store-bought)

Optional Add-ons for Extra Flavor:

  • ¼ cup Nutella or peanut butter (for an indulgent filling)
  • 1 tablespoon sea salt flakes (to balance sweetness)
  • 1 tablespoon chopped nuts (almonds, hazelnuts, or walnuts)
  • 1 tablespoon powdered sugar (for garnish)

Instructions

Step 1: Preheat the Oven

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Step 2: Slice the Croissants

  • Using a sharp knife, carefully slice each croissant in half horizontally, but don’t cut all the way through—it should still be connected at the back.

Step 3: Fill with Cookie Dough

  • Take about 2 tablespoons of cookie dough and spread it evenly inside each croissant. If adding Nutella or peanut butter, spread 1 teaspoon before adding the dough.

Step 4: Bake

  • Place the stuffed croissants on the baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the croissants turn golden brown and the cookie dough is slightly gooey.

Step 5: Cool and Serve

  • Let them rest for 5 minutes before serving. Sprinkle with sea salt or powdered sugar for an extra touch of flavor.

Notes

For a crispier croissant, brush the outside lightly with melted butter before baking.
Chill the cookie dough for 15-20 minutes before stuffing to prevent excessive spreading.
Want a healthier twist? Use a vegan croissant and dairy-free cookie dough for a plant-based option.
Gluten-Free? Swap in gluten-free croissants and cookie dough made with almond or oat flour.
Storage: These are best enjoyed fresh, but you can store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days. Reheat in the oven for 5 minutes at 300°F (150°C) to restore crispiness.
